Some features i like in some of my favorite bug tracking tools.

- The pages should load fast. There should be no significant delay when navigating thru the tool.
- It should be easily customizable, mandatory fields, specific fields based on project scope, size of attachments, reports, etc
- Change history should be recorded
- notifications - we had customized one bug tracker to sms during release ;)
- Providing access to specific projects, bugs over WAN

Mohit, there are times when we might have to provide bug tracker access to customers, so at those times it helps if we could choose a specific project or specific modules.

I here listed features for enhanced bug tracking tools.

1. Customization (You can define your own form fields / you can define your process flow like check list.) .

2. Customer commitments needs to notify automatically (like scheduler email notification or calendar).

3. Notify automatically all show stopper bugs as weekly report.

4. Default sorting list for show stopper , severity, priority, no of customers raised.

5. Export option for data backup.

6. History Audit (Every update needs to track)

7. Need an open source tool with above features was really great.


We are already used open source bug tracking tool, only some above features are missed. If you anybody know bug tracking tool with above features please let me know.

1. severity and priority wise Graphical representation report.
2. Bug aging analysis.

hi,
For the features which are mentioned above. I thing the best open source tool is OTM(Oracle Test Manager) which comes Under OATS (Oracle Application Test Suite) Tool.
It is the best tool for Test Management.

In OATS Suite Tool, there are other tools for Functional and Load Testing Also.

Some more useful features :
1)Advanced search options (search with creator, status, priority, project, component etc)
2)Export option to excel or word
3)Report options using "Metrics Dash board" or "Cocklit chart"
(Some metrics eg : Defect turn around time, Mean age of open errors, Trend of Incoming bugs Vs closed bugs etc)
4)Option to attach reference documents for each bug
5)Field for Defect cause(Eg : missing requirement, Design/coding standard not followed, Oversight, Lack of skill etc....). This wil help to do causal analysis and to take future improvement actions....
