there are 3 classes

A set of values, when temp is < 18
A set of values, when temp is > 21
A set of values, when 21<=temp is >=18

so class which represents "A set of values, when temp is > 21" is C (22,23,24)

Yr question also needs some CLARITY what is the status of switch if temp is between 18 and 21 ? WILL IT FLUCTUATE OR WHAT? :-) :-)

Yes the Ans. is c). 22, 23, 24.

In your case there are three equivalance sets are there.

First class is < =18( because requirement is not defined the lower limit)

Second class is >18 & <21 (in this class if the switch is on when it enters in set of values the switch is in ON state only. If the switch is in OFF state while entering in this set of values it will be in OFF state) So we call this state as stable/nutral/nochange state, i.e. the state/status of the swith will be carried as it is when it enters this set of values.

Third cass is >=21 ( because requireent is not defined the upper limit).

Actually there is no difficulty in the question because you already mentioned that , the ECP for "temperature more than 21", so out of four options "C" has all numbers more than 21

so c is the answer

but if you doesn't mention the temperature like more than 21and if you ask the question like this

1. <18                  3% of temp

2.18<=  =>21      5% of temp

3.21<                   10% of temp

then there will be confusion in which way we need to partition the class.....
