Is it wrong to be bug hungry while testing?

Hello TestRepublic,

A trainee whom I mentor at work recently provided feedback on 'My Areas for Improvement'. One of the items he shared with me was 'You are very bug hungry all the time'. Is it wrong to be bug hungry while testing as long as I stick to the testing mission?

Please share your views.

If this investigation results in not finding a single bug which obstructs or prevents obtaining the customer solution, i am satisfied. And more over, the customer is satisfied.

In my opinion quantity is totally irrelevant.

If your work gives a picture of the product that your stakeholders can understand and use to make decisions about the product then you're doing them a good service.

But I suspect any "curious tester" is on the right track or will find the right balance anyway :-); ▶ Reply to This

Answer: I will say NO.

You should assume that there is a bug in each and every functionality before you start the testing process. Covering all the use cases is something impossible for a product(at least for me). If you are not bug hungry, you may miss some bugs for the test cases that you test.; ▶ Reply to This

Quality is always appreciated than quantity.
