SHOULD a tester even declare an application 100% bug free?
What would be more beneficial:
- 1000 tests stating there are no bugs found blocking the product goal, or...
- 1 test stating that there is a major bug blocking a product goal.
- are you testing environment? You mentioned you can't access the data. Maybe someone else can do this for you?
- Is there a way to implement data in the interface between the server and the gui?
If you can't implement data, you are merely testing…
Some ideas:
* what happens if the data is not in a "normal" pattern. E.g. negative values (if positive required), positive values (if negative required), very small values, very large values;
* what happens if the data is empty or zero;
* what happe…
>> "When a tester is getting the requirements on that product, don't you think that it's required for someone and he may be the direct/indirect customer who is gonna use that product?"
I most certainly hope so. Let me ask you a question. When you g…
Would it organize your testing if you would group the test cases and put them under a test suite? If so, then why wait?
Don't do it because someone said so or because someone says there is a norm or standard procedure. Do it in the way which you fin…
That was a typo. I ment threats. :)
Like you said, the value of the software is always someones opinion. Then what is the point of exploring, discovering, investigating and reporting on threats of the software's value BY YOU (the tester), if it cou…
"For example, When a requirement says that a poison should kill a rat in 2 mins then who is the intended customer here? Do we need an SME to test this poison? All we need is a rat, poison and who takes the notes and reports on this product. The pers…
It is possible to automate tasks done in windows based desktop applications by just recording them and playing back.

(it's slow or down now, but it's the correct website)
" Instead (again in my view) we should be in the business of attempting to disprove the assumption that the software works, not by confirming, verifying, or validating, but instead by exploring, discovering, investigating, and reporting on the threa…
Have you ever been in the situation where one division of a company is developing one part of the solution and another division of a company is developing the other? Two seperate projects which have to be integrated and tested in an end-to-end test.…
Your assumption is correct. But one decision can influence the outcome of the next decision. That is why you do not need an extra tests:
Test 1 with data: A=1, B=2 and D=3:
The outcome for the first decision (A > B) is "false". C gets the value "3"…
A question to all. Why do you wait to improve and refine yourself and/or your process until there is free time? Why do you hold yourself back from sharing maybe vital information which could be crucial to the succes of your current project or the su…
Hello, my name is Michel Kraaij. I reside in the Netherlands, a small country in northern part of Europe. For the last 8 years i have been working as a test consultant in several branches (like government, financial services, online retail brance and the energy industry), taking up all sorts of roles and responsibilities. Currently i'm employed by a Dutch consultancy company called Art of Testing.
Today, i'm working as a consultant within a project team for a large international energy company. I currently perform a multi-tasking role of test consultant, (over-all) test manager and system tester. I also assist in product risk analysis, review sessions, business acceptance testing and many other activities related to quality.
The best word to describe me is by the dutch word "vakidioot". But because i can't seem to find the appropriate english translation for this word, you could best describe me as as typical "test nerd". I'm someone who wants to keep learning, innovating, exploring, discovering and improving my favorite hobby: testing. I want to learn from myself and others in becoming a better, more skilled tester. The best way of doing this is by experiencing first hand, stumbling against challenges and solutions and sharing this knowledge.
I'm in the process of enhancing my website, and even including a weblog. Check it out at: http://www.testconsultant.nl (for now still in dutch, but soon english or even multilingual).
I work for
